Bahrain upholds religious freedom, tolerance

Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa with religious scholars

President of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain presents a modern example of national unity, tolerance, coherence and coexistence; among various religions, sects and culture.

IAA President also stressed that such an example flourishes in an environment of freedom, democracy and civil justice with sovereignty of the law with the framework of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s reform initiative.

President of the IAA during his meeting with Bahrain Society for Tolerance and Religious Coexistence and various religious scholars stressed that Bahrain was unique with regards to protecting rights and religious freedoms along with embedding the spirit of cooperation and principles of peace within the community.

The meeting discussed ways of consolidating the values of co-existence and religious tolerance, which have always distinguished Bahrain since its foundation.

IAA President called for the need to reinforce the successful model of religious co-existence witnessed by the kingdom, throughout its long history so as to project the real honorable image of Bahrain to the world.

Religious figures stressed the importance of the role played by the media to highlight the kingdom’s support for religious freedom, calling for the need to focus on youth groups in order to instill religious freedom and co-existence in them.
