Samsung enjoys 45% Smart TV market share
Last year Samsung was the first to launch a full range of SMART TVs in the region and in 2011, Samsung introduced a new era of home entertainment with the new D series of SMART TVs, the ultimate entertainment technology. Despite stiff competition in this segment, where outstanding and superbly-designed products make a huge impact on consumers’ purchasing decisions, Samsung was able to firmly establish its leadership. According to industry reports, Samsung secured a whopping 45 percent market share by the end of Q2 making Samsung the brand of choice for the Gulf.
“Samsung’s SMART TV range delivers the most enhanced smart experience. Offering both product convenience and enriched content is the secret behind the success of our SMART TV,” said Justin Shaw, Head of AV division at Samsung Gulf Electronics. “We expect that along with D7000 and D8000, our further expanded models will drive up our SMART TV market share in the Gulf region even higher during the second half of the year,” he added.

Samsung’s range of SMART TVs also allows consumers to customize their television with a dedicated apps store, “Samsung Apps”. Samsung Apps, the world’s first HDTV-based application store, allows you to either buy or download directly whatever applications you want from your own television. Skype with friends and family on your SMART TV with the Skype app or sign-in to your Twitter or Facebook account through the Social TV app. With a host of apps, it’s no surprise that the HDTV-based application store has become a hot trend with over 2 million worldwide downloads since its launch.
