Menatelecom unveils high-speed 18Mb WiMax service

Broadband internet users in Bahrain can now enjoy higher speeds up to 18 Mb enabling the higher download capacities at lower prices, thanks to Menatelecom’s launch of latest upgrades.

The announcement, according to the telecom operator, marks the completion of 100,000 subscriber expansion initiative triggering the launch of the most powerful broadband packages in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The new packages have been released with the completion of Menatelecom’s latest network expansion that increased its capacity to 100,000 subscribers and offers speeds of up to 18Mb for home users and 50 Mb for corporate customers.

“Over the past two years Menatelecom has taken giant strides in Bahrain’s telecommunications field; we have won the CommsMEA’s 2009 Internet Service Provider of the Year Award and we are officially recognized as Bahrain’s 2nd Largest Internet Service Provider with a client base of over 57,000 subscribers,” said Abdulhakeem AlKhayyat, Managing Director and CEO of Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain (KFH-B) and Chairman of Menatelecom while commenting on the upgrade milestone.

“Menatelecom has secured the confidence of customers in Bahrain and we are proud to release the latest packages that include higher speeds than ever before as well as packages with unlimited downloads for both home and business customers. In addition, we have many other packages that suit every business and residential need – All these offerings are available at the most competitive prices in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” he added.
Packages Start from BD8 for home device and BD9 for USB (mykey).

“This is a long awaited moment for Menatelecom as we’ve been anticipating the completion of our expansion. We now have the network resources to provide much higher speeds at lower prices than ever before. Our packages are not only competitive in terms of cost, but also in performance as our top speeds are actually attainable and reliable,” said Abdul Razak Jawahery, Executive Manager at KFH-B and Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Menatelecom.

For customer convenience, Menatelecom now serve through an expanded network of outlets which includes the Bahrain World Trade Center, GOSI Mall, Country Mall Budaiya, Muharraq, Isa Town, Bu Kuwara, Hamad Town and KFH Automall in Sitra.

The outlets are fully equipped with the latest device demonstrations and active WiMax user stations where customers can test the latest subscriber packages offered by Menatelecom prior to being purchased.
