The Minister of Interior Lt. Gen Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has issued directives for a speedy investigation into the incident of ill-treatment of a journalist while in custody.
Ministry of Interior Assistant undersecretary for legal affairs confirmed that the ongoing probe which according to him was initiated upon receiving the report about the ill-treatment of a correspondent of a news agency in one of the police stations.
The correspondent’s account of the incident was taken to complete the investigation procedures. The ministry said the assistant undersecretary was investigating the matter based on the principle that all are questionable and held accountable for their violations.
Moreover, the ministry he said did not hesitate to investigation any report related to enforcing the law.
