With reference to an article published in “Independent” newspaper dated July 18 entitled “Poet is imprisoned and is beaten” the assistant undersecretary for legal affairs at the Ministry of Interior stated that the ministry did not receive a complaint with regards to this incident.
He also affirmed that the ministry took such incidents seriously.
He indicated that the Minister of Interior Lt Gen Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa gave directives for a speedy investigation in this incident and to undertake the necessary legal procedures against those who are involved in this incident.
