450 Asry employees complete Tamkeen programme

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) honoured upon the successful completion of the career development programme.

ASRY achieved third place in terms of the number of the participating employees in this vital programme.

Asry’s Human Resources Manager, Shaikh Duaij bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, who received a trophy, said that Asry’s participation in this program is a part of the company’s ongoing interest in developing the performance of all employees to strengthen the company’s competitive position in a highly competitive marketplace, which requires improved productivity, quality delivery and prompt response.

“The company will continue cooperating with Tamkeen to qualify our employees for better job performance and for salary increments upon completion of the training requirements”, he added. Shaikh Duaij confirmed that in-house and outside training will continue and eligible employees will be sent on short- and long-term courses within Bahrain and overseas.

Asry participated in Tamkeen’s career developing programme in which its 450 employees with salary range of BD200 and BD400 from the various departments had successfully completed the courses designed by Tamkeen in conjunction with BDO Jawad Habib Consultants.

Shaikh Duaij said that Asry employees were assigned to several training courses amounting to 47,177 training hours across various occupations required by the company.

He said that the Bahraini employees who participated in these courses were fully satisfied with the importance of such programs for improving performance and increasing salaries, and those they have successfully completed the training assignment.

“The training program has attracted more than 9,000 Bahraini participants from nearly 450 private sector companies. More than 5,000 Bahrainis have their monthly salaries increased upon completion the various training stages by a budget of BD 6 million and training cost of BD4.5 million,” Tamkeen’s Human Resources Development Senior Manager, Amal Al-Kooheji, said.

Al-Kooheji commended the commitment of the participants, including those of Asry, and the efforts of nominating and monitoring 450 Asry employees.

According to Tamkeen, the training cost spent by Tamkeen was BD 379,000 and the salary subsidy was BD 247,000.

A number of employees who participated in the program expressed their thanks and appreciation to Asry for the company’s endeavour to improve and develop the employees’ productivity to reflect on the competitive position of the company. They emphasized their willingness to attend further training courses.
