During the meeting, members of the delegation congratulated Abdulwahed Al Radhi on his election as the IPU President between 2011 and 2014, asserting that the victory is a source of pride to Arab and Islamic parliaments. They also conveyed to him congratulations and best wishes from the Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and the Representatives Council Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani.
Al Rahi, backed by the Bahraini delegation and other Arab and Islamic ones, received 137 votes, while his opponent received 130 ones. The kingdom’s delegation, led by MP Shaikh Adel Al Maawda, included Shura Council members Dr. Salah Ali, Dr. Aysha Mubarak, Sameera Rajab and Jameela Salman and MPs Dr. Ali Ahmed and Latifa Al Qaoud
