Bahrainis from across the board are being urged to respond positively to Bahrain Independent Committee of Inquiry (BICI) report.
Bahrain Political Development Institute (BPDI) appealed to all concerned parties to show deep trust and interest in the issues and visions featuring in the BICI Report.
It cited particularly the Government, the civil society institutions political societies and citizens in general. It underlined the crucial importance of the coming period – a defining moment that requires collection conviction between all social components to overcome the repercussions of the unrest and engage democratic change. It highlighted essential issues involving human rights, the rule of the law and the development of the constitutional institutions, in light of the multiparty National Consensus Dialogue recommendations. The think tank hailed His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his bold initiative, establishing the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry to probe the unrest and review the situation before taking effective measures to achieve national reconciliation for the reform momentum to continue unabated. It stressed Bahrain’s keenness to ensure the impartiality and independence of the probe committee, featuring internationally acknowledged experts. “The BICI Report is a unique cornerstone towards achieving national reconciliation in the aftermath of the traumatic unrest which gripped Bahrain over months,” it said.
It urged BICI Report recommendations to be translated into tangible reality to ensure justice is done and Bahrain’s international human rights obligations are honoured. It stressed the importance of the report as it heralds a new political era in Bahrain – hence the need for responsibility and full dedication to promote the reform project further in line with popular and royal. The think tank pointed out the crucial steps undertaken in the aftermath of the unrest, citing the establishment of the Compensation Fund, the consolidation for the Royal Human Rights Organisation, in line with Paris Principles – thus reflecting a sincere desire to overcome past pitfalls and promote the culture of human rights.
