Red Bull “Ras B Ras” brings together top drivers

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Mohammad bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, sixteen of the best Arab drivers will participate in the Red Bull Ras B Ras competition on Wednesday November 23rd 2011 at 8pm on Al-Khobar Corniche, with the sponsorship of Chevrolet and ActionHa.

The event, which will be held with the support of HH Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Fahd Bin Abdullah Al Saud, President of the Eastern Region Tourism Council, and HRH Prince Sultan Bin Bandar Al Faisal, President of the Saudi Arabian Motor Federation, will attract 11,500 spectators. Fans will witness the All-Star selection of motorsport athletes engage in a series of rigorous knockout competitions in attempts to be crowned the regional Champion.

The participants will race on identical vehicles throughout the competition, which have the same specifications approved by the International Automobile Federation (FIA). These cars will provide a level playing field for the contestants, and the best driver will duly emerge. Red Bull Ras B Ras will commence as the drivers are paired off to race in eight separate heats on the custom-built track. From there, the fastest drivers will continue on to battle in the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals, after which only two will remain to compete in the final stage.

One of the cars the drivers will be racing is the Radical. Following the advanced technical specifications, the car has a length of 4.10m, a height of 1.04m and a width of 1.79m. Weighing a minimum of 570kg, Radical has a 258km/h top speed, and can reach from 0 to 100km/h in 3.1 seconds. The car is equipped with a six-speed sequential gearbox and an engine capacity of 1,500cc that produces a 210 horse power.

Evo cars will also be present on the Red Bull Ras B Ras circuit. The participants will be driving the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 Prototype, which has a 2.625 wheelbase, a length of 4.490mm, a width of 1.770mm, a height of 1.450mm, and a weight of 1,200kg. The engine capacity is circa 2,000cc and is composed of sixteen valves. It is also equipped with a double upper camshaft and the number of cylinders is up to four sequential. Furthermore, the fuel system works through electronic fuel injections with a turbocharger and is equipped with an air inhibitor that has a 38mm opening. The transmission of this model is connected with an axial differential gear and Ralliart front and rear suspension sets of Proflex Evo 4 type. The gear box is a five-speed Dogbox. The front brake system is composed of six cylinders, whereas the rear is composed of four cylinders. The cars are also equipped with a hydraulic manual brake and have eighteen inch metallic tires.

The third category of cars that will be used in Red Bull Ras B Ras is the KTM. These cars are equipped with an engine capacity of 1,984cc, composed of four cylinders with a turbo, while a maximum horse power of 240. Moreover, its torque is up to 310n-m. The manual gearbox which controls the transmission has six speeds, as the transmission works on the rear tires. The KTM cars have a length of 3,738mm, a width of 1,900mm and a weight of 790kg.

The Red Bull Ras B Ras track consists of an 800m-long tarmac circuit in the shape of the number “8″ and features a crossover bridge, which allows two drivers to race simultaneously on parallel lanes and cover the same distance. Subsequently, this track allows the worthiest and most deserving driver to win the title as it ensures equality and requires advanced driving skills and precise techniques. Sixteen of the Middle East’s best motorsport Champions will showcase their talents, but only one will prove superior and will be crowned the Champion of Red Bull Ras B Ras.
