Parliament Chairman Khalifa Al Dhahrani thanked the government for its rapid response to a parliamentary proposal to hold a joint meeting which reflects keenness of the executive power to cooperate with the legislative power for the best interest of the nation and to unveil the latest developments.
This came at a meeting which convened at the parliament in the presence of Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, MPs and senior Interior Ministry officials.
“The policemen are dear to us and are like our sons, or even more. Therefore, we are always keen to honour them and protect their rights. The Interior Ministry’s responsibility for its affiliates is a national commitment,” the Interior Minister said reiterating commitment to safeguard people’s inalienable right to security and stability.
He also stressed the Interior Ministry’s ongoing efforts to upgrade the level of its personnel according to modern standards.
“Meanwhile, we are keen to provide all services that help the security officers perform their duties,” he stressed pointing out the ministry’s intention to set up housing units for its affiliates nationwide.
He briefed the MPs about the latest security developments and up-to-date training schemes enjoyed by the security forces.
He also answered the MPs’ queries about licensed and unlicensed marches and ways of handling them legally, stressing the importance of social partnership in enforcing the law.
Shaikh Khalid affirmed that all people who were victims of human rights abuse would be compensated.
He highlighted the legal mechanism followed in dealing with security cases at specialized courts to ensure the rule of law and achieve social justice.
