Supreme Council for Women secretary-general Hala Al-Ansari welcomed the establishment of units to promote equal opportunities. Human Rights and Social Development Minister and Acting Health Minister Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Balooshi and Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza issued edicts setting up the panels.
Al-Ansari stressed the importance of such decisions, haling efforts to promote equal opportunities between employees and integrate women’s needs in all development fields.
“The principle of equal opportunities is a cornerstone of Bahrain’s constitution”, she said. Similar units have been so far set up at the Foreign Ministry, the Shura Council, the General Organisation for Youth and Sport, the Labour Ministry, the Information Affairs Authority, the Municipalities and Urban Affairs Planning Ministry, the ministries of culture and works and the Bahrain Centre for Excellence.
