The sculpture symposium, which created a giant open air workshop, will portray more than 16 different interpretations from different artists from various countries including Anis Al-Ma’ani, Jordan; Mohammed Yousif, UAE; Abdulla Amin, Ali Al-Mahmeed, Fouad Al-Binfalah and Asghar Ismail, Bahrain; Mehrez AlLouz, Tunisia; Faisal al-No’man, Saudi Arabia; Zaki Salam, Palestine; Samia Abdul Muncif, Egypt; Zaid Al-Abid, Kuwait; Salem Al-Marhoon, Oman; Ali Noori, Iraq; Ahmed Al-Subai’i, Qatar; Nasreen Saleh, Syria and Khalid Mirghani, Sudan and a novice artist.
“In these events artists get to meet each other learn, and master, new techniques,” Artist Ali Al-Mahmeed said.
“And despite the low media attention sculpting gets this symposium is a great chance to highlight the beauty of this art form. We also found this open space is also an opportunity for participants to work on large scale projects, and some of these sculptures will reach three meters in height.”
The Artists have all interpreted the theme in different ways reflecting on the artists memory, and cultural background and attachment, for example, Zaki Salam of Palestine portrayed a woman bent in pain, while Bahraini Ali Al-Mahmeed’s interpretation had a feminine sense.
The symposium concludes as the 38th Bahrain International Fine Arts Exhibition under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa where all participating sculptures will be displayed starting January, 10th.
