The General Director of the Central Governorate Police has announced that groups of vandals were involved on Saturday in rioting, vandalism, the blocking of roads and the hurling of stones in different areas in Sitra, according to IAA statement.
These groups also attacked the Sitra Police Station from various sides and tried to burn the building by using Molotov cocktails. Police used teargas to disperse the groups.
The General Director of the Central Governorate said the control room received a call about an individual, Sayed Hashim Saeed Isa, 16, who died after being referred from Sitra Health Center to Salmaniya Medical Complex. The deceased had sustained severe burns on various parts of his body and an injury to his neck. The General Director confirmed that initial investigations revealed that the deceased was among those involved in the attack on security forces with Molotov cocktails earlier in the day but explained that teargas does not cause the type of burns that were observed on the body of the deceased. The Ministry of Interior has requested the Public Prosecution to investigate the case.
