Bahrain plans new housing projects: Minister

The Minister of Housing Bassim Al Hamer announced that the Ministry of Housing is planning several new public housing projects in different areas of the kingdom which will be distributed once the plans are ready, adding that these housing projects include the construction of new cities such as the projects of Eastern Hidd, Eastern Sitra and the Northern City.

Al Hamer said in a regular parliamentary session chaired by Khalifa Al-Dhahrani that the total number of housing applications has reached 53416 for housing units application and 1004 for flats.

He responded to a question during the session regarding the number of housing projects that will be needed to cover the demand saying that the mentioned projects will cover a large number of those currently waitlisted, in addition to projects that will be set up in coordination with the private sector across the kingdom.

The Minister also said that the number of applications in the Southern Governorate is 3779 applications, in Muharraq 9356 applications, in the Central Governorate 15568 applications, the Capital Governorate 6668 applications and in the Northern Governorate 18045 housing applications. As for apartment applications he said that the number of applications in the Southern Governorate is 210 applications, in Muharraq 130 applications, in the Central Governorate 296 applications, the Capital Governorate 137 applications and in the Northern Governorate 231 applications.
