Security and stability serve as vital pillar for business: BCCI Chief

February 19, 2012
0

the Ministry of Interior, led by Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa receiving guests during his weekly majlis
Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr. Essam Fakhro stressed that the development process will accomplish its goals only through the achievement of security and stability and to stop all forms of violence and terrorism.

Dr. Fakhroo called on the Ministry of Interior to increase security around the economic sites and commercial markets, especially in the Capital Governorate, and not provide any license to any rallies, protests or any political activities near those areas.

Dr. Fakhro praised the outstanding efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior, led by Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, in order to provide security at the economic sites and commercial establishments, maintain order and protect the homeland and citizens.

Speaking after a meeting with the Minister of Interior in his weekly Majlis, held in the presence of some members of Bahrain’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and some Bahraini Commercial activities, Dr. Essam said that the overall stability and security is a prerequisite for economic prosperity.

He also said that from this standpoint, the Chamber supports all efforts by the Ministry of Interior in order to maintain security, and supports all its steps and procedures in this regard, asking for the application of law on everyone without any exception.

Dr. Essam Fakhro also asked the legislative authority to reconsider some of the laws and regulations governing the rallies and protests, in order to respond to the latest developments on the local arena. He pointed out that the Chamber supports, at the same time, all the initiatives and directions to get out of the cycle of violence or resort to the irrational methods as being the means for expression of opinion and attain the rights.

Dr. Essam reiterated that the Chamber, out of its responsibility to defend the interests of the commercial sector it represents, it rejects all the harm to the democratic experiment and civilizational achievements of the Kingdom, or threatens the security of the homeland and the citizen, especially detrimental to the efforts made in the advancement of the national economy.

Dr. Fakhro alluded that the national economy in general, and small and medium enterprises and private sector companies, in particular, have suffered heavy losses, because of the continuing terrorist incidents, therefore they appeal to the Interior Ministry to intensify security presence in areas that represent the economic lifeline of the country.

Dr. Fakhro stressed that the Chamber refused all attempts to sow discord and escalate the violence and prejudice to the security, and stability in the country.

He added that the Chamber, at the same time, appreciates the efforts, steps and programmes to address all the economic, political and social problems, highlighting that the Chamber supports any national efforts endorsed to get out of the crisis experienced by the country.

Dr. Essam also alluded that these efforts should stem from the principles of the Royal Reform Project and the National Action Charter, giving a priority to the interests of Bahrain, its people and its future over any other consideration.

Dr. Essam commended the high degree of awareness enjoyed by the security men and their commitment to the utmost restraint in dealing with terrorist acts. He also said that the reform project, which HM the King has laid down its foundations, is based on humanitarian grounds, reflected in all areas of life, including the agencies and authorities that maintain security and order. Therefore, they appreciate the good efforts on the part of the security men and the Ministry of Interior in preserving security and stability of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens and residents living on its territory.

Dr. Essam, in his statement, called for the unity between the people of this dear homeland, and to devote national cohesion through co-existence and to reject all prejudices and tensions, in order to elevate Bahrain. He said that Bahrain’s rulers and ruled alike have agreed to the reform project of His Majesty the King, and rejected any harm to the experience of democracy and civilizational achievements made by the Kingdom. He also called for the rejection of any attempts that may threaten the security of the homeland and the citizen, especially detrimental to the efforts made in the advancement of the national economy to achieve growth on a sustainable economy on both social and economic levels.

Dr. Essam also called for the need to abide by the directives of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the sustainable calls of HRH the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa to discard sedition and care for the interests of the country and its citizens. He also asked to abide with the initiative of HRH the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, Prince Salman Bin Isa Al Khalifa to be gathered together on the love of the country and have unity.
