In a statement published by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Dr. Abdul Ghaffar said that even though he was not speaking on behalf of the British Government, a number of indicators proved that the UK doesn’t support using violent means under the pretext of democracy.
He added that the British Ambassador expressed clearly his country’s condemnation of the use of violence in Bahrain, during his speech at the opening session of the round-table entitled: “external factors affecting the Bahraini British relations: prospects for cooperation across regions,” opened here today.
Abdul Ghaffar explained that the British and Bahraini relations are old and strong, and there are a lot of common and divergent interests and commercial relations as well between the two countries. Besides, the interests of UK with the Arabian Gulf region in general, stressing that the issue of Gulf security is the common concern of the United States, Britain, India and China because of its strategic dimensions.
He added that the pioneering Reform Project, launched by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, has, over the past decade, earned the kingdom innumerable strides, especially in democracy.
