Lebanese magazine “Al-Sayyad” described the initiative as crucial as it fills a vacuum in the pan-Arab system.
“The initiative will ensure the Arabs deal with their own issues and avert any resorting to foreign assistance-even from friendly countries”, it said.
It stressed the importance of the initiative in promoting the culture of human rights in the Arab countries, which would avert a lot of problems between rulers and their peoples and cement national unity.
The magazine paid tribute to HM King Hamad for establishing the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), in an unprecedented model to emulate, and giving instructions to implement its recommendations in order to address the Kingdom’s crisis.
In an editorial in its latest edition, the magazine said that it was no strange that the initiative emanated from His Majesty King Hamad.
Titled “King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s Far-reaching Humanitarian Step”, the editorial commended HM King Hamad for promoting basic liberties, freedom of expression, justice and decent living as part of the landmark reform project he initiated.
“HM King Hamad’s initiative came at a defining moment as the Arab goes through upheavals”, the magazine said.
It quoted Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Nabeel Al-Arabi who hailed HM King Hamad’s initiative as reflecting “the civilized, intellectual, legal and political maturity and development in the fledgling Kingdom of Bahrain”.
