The General Directorate of the Northern Governorate Police has announced that an explosion targeting police officers occurred in Duraz at 10:35PM on Tuesday (April 24th), according to Information Affairs Authority statement.
“The explosion seems to have been aimed at injuring policemen assigned to escort Civil Defense vehicles that were responding to a call regarding a fire in a shop,” it added.
The explosion injured four policemen, two of which are in critical condition at BDF Hospital. Investigators immediately responded to the scene and have begun an investigation into the matter.
This is the second explosion targeting police in a little over two weeks. The Public Prosecution had already opened an investigation into an earlier attack that took place in Al-Ekr on April 9th in which 7 officers were wounded, including 3 with critical injuries.
