Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa announced in a press conference this morning that the festival will launch on the 14th of June, and will continue for a full month, under the banner “Manama, the City of Joy”.
She confirmed that this year’s festival will be rich with a variety of new activities and many musical, cultural, educational and entertaining evenings and programs to suit the Bahraini, Gulf and Arab families, of residents and visitors of all ages.
This year’s Bahrain Summer Festival coincides with Manama being chosen the Arab Capital of Culture 2012, and the Arab Capital of Tourism 2013, a reason why Manama is this year’s home for “Nakhoul” tent, the personal icon of the festival, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center, with a new set of activities specially planned for children and youth.
