Foreign interference in Bahrain is not acceptable: BCCI

June 25, 2012
0

Dr-Esam-Fakhro, BCCI Chief
The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has praised the directives issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa as he chaired, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the regular weekly Cabinet meeting, noting that they reflected the Bahraini citizens’ aspirations for modernization and reform and represented a road map of national work in the coming phase of the Royal Reform Project, especially regarding the need to enhance constructive contact between Bahrainis in order to solve any differences.

BCCI Chairman Dr. Esam Abdualla Fakhro said that HM the King sent a clear message that all kinds of foreign interference are not accepted and Bahraini affairs are purely internal matters which concern no one else but Bahrainis, adding that the Royal firm stance reflects the genuine values of the Bahraini people and reasserts that dialogue is the best policy.

Dr. Fakhro also described HM King Hamad’s assertion that the Kingdom will consolidate its ties with countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and support GCC Union as a wise one, explaining that unity of GCC states will strengthen the entity further and bring about more progress and prosperity for its citizens.

BCCI Chairman also commended HM the King’s statement that “welfare of the citizens is the sublime goal of the reform march” and directives to the government to assume its full role in serving the citizens and meeting their expectations, according to the best international practices, expressing confidence that the government, led by HRH Premier, is capable of translating the Royal aspirations into the ground as it has always done out of its belief that the citizens’ interests are a priority.

Dr. Fakhro also hailed HM the King’s instructions to the government to maintain direct contact with the citizens, work side by side with the legislative power, mass media and non-government organisations and keep in touch with brotherly and friendly countries as well as international organisations so as to project the government’s keen interest to serve the Bahraini people and highlight the kingdom’s pioneering initiatives to protect citizens’ rights and bolster their welfare, adding that the King’s directives to state media to assume a more prominent and proactive role inside and outside Bahrain instead of mere reactions are crucial and to the point.

In this regard, Dr. Fakhro called upon Bahraini media to implement the Royal instructions immediately and inform the International Community on the Kingdom’s economic and investment functions, the incentives provided for traders and investors, the landmark political and legal achievements attained as a result of HM the King’s pioneering Reform Project and the deep-rooted values of cohesion, solidarity, peaceful co-existence and tolerance characterizing the Bahraini society.

He also said that HM the King’s directives to respect the judiciary and supremacy of the law, enhance cooperation and complementarity between the Social Development Ministry, the Education Ministry, the General Organisation for Youth and Sport and the media sector and keep religious platforms away from sectarian polarisation will, respectively, consolidate national cohesion, protect youths and increase popular rejection of incitement and sectarian division.

In a related context, Dr. Fakhro also lauded HRH Premier’s assertion that serving the citizens is the government’s top priority, and pledge to set up a media strategy that enhances the Bahraini media’s effectiveness.

“The government, under the leadership of HRH Prime Minister, has always lived up to the expectations,” he said, adding that the royal directives will be fully implemented thanks to HRH Premier’s Wisdom, statesmanship and sound visions.

Dr. Fakhro asserted that HM the King’s directives will reflect positively on national work and push the reform march further, taking pride in HRH Premier’s dedication and adherence to national interests.

He also praised the essential role played by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Economic Development Board, to consolidate the kingdom’s landmark achievements.
