Four Seasons project carries $300m economic benefits

The Four Seasons Hotel project is estimated to result in direct and indirect economic benefits for Bahrain that will equal approximately $300million over the next five to seven years, with GCC tourism expected to contribute strongly to these benefits, the developers said on Monday.

“The Four Seasons Hotel project demonstrates the long-term commitment of developers to Bahrain’s sustainable future, and the project has already created more than 700 jobs, many of which are filled by Bahraini nationals. Situated on a private island at the heart of Bahrain Bay – the country’s highest-profile waterfront community – the luxury hotel is set to inject new capital and create further careers in the real estate and hospitality sectors upon its completion in April 2014,” Bahrain Bay in a statement said.

The management team of Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay has confirmed the project is currently ahead of schedule, with the fifth level of towers now completed and logged over 500,000 accident-free working hours on site. Contractor Six Construct, who have developed major projects in the region such as the Burj Khalifa (Dubai), Ferrari World (Abu Dhabi), Khalifa Stadium (Doha) and Bahrain’s North Manama Causeway, have a 1200-strong team, who are utilising a two-shift-work pattern to optimise project completion.

“This key project is not just for the real estate sector, but also on a national economic level. As one of the cornerstone components of Bahrain Bay, we all understand that a project of this scale is an opportunity to demonstrate Bahrain’s emergence from the global financial crisis, and its sustainability as a GCC tourism hub. We have been extremely impressed with the way Six Construct has initiated the start-up stages of the main works. Working in partnership with a number of local contractors, they have responded to a demanding critical path and timeline. As the project further evolves towards our targeted opening in 2014; we will see further evidence of how the construction, tourism and government sectors of Bahrain are collaborating to support growth opportunities,” Bob Vincent, Client Representative and General Manager of Bayside Developments, who is overseeing the project’s implementation.

“The Four Seasons Hotel project demonstrates that Bahrain is committed to emerging from recent issues with a strengthened economy,” he said.

“The project shows a commitment from the investment community in future GCC tourism both on a business and leisure level.”

“Six Construct has had implemented projects in Bahrain over the past 15 years. We have been impressed on this particular project with the skilled labour available locally and their ability to respond to our demanding schedule. We have been able to identify high quality sub-contractors with efficient material supply lines and hard-working teams.” Six Construct were selected for this landmark project due to their renowned portfolio of large scale construction projects delivered on time, without compromising standards,” Philippe Dessoy, General Manager, Six Construct Middle East, said, who also commended the local resources which helped in achieving the pace of property development.

At 201 meters in height, 50-storeys, and 263 guest rooms, the hotel complex is positioned to Bahrain’s hospitality credentials, and set a new standard in luxury accommodation in the country. Complete with world-class spa and leisure facilities, suspended ‘Sky Pod’ restaurant, superior meeting and event space, four unique dining options, and panoramic city and sea views for guestrooms and suites, the project has been designed to lead Bahrain’s hotel offerings into a new era.
