Indra Multinational starts Bahrain operations

Indra Multinational opened its office in Bahrain to support its operations, thanks to the sound and unique infrastructure in Kingdom of Bahrain.

Indra, a leading information technology multinational in Spain and one of the main companies in Europe and Latin America, announced the opening of its Bahrain office to support the company’s local operations on the one hand, and to expand its future investment undertakings on the other hand through making full advantage of Bahrain position as an attractive investment environment for businesses.

Under the patronage of Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Transportation Minister and Acting Chief Executive of Economic Development Board (EDB), Indra’s office was inaugurated by Gonzalo de Benito, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs during his visit to Bahrain, in the presence of Ángel Losada, Spain’s ambassador to Kuwait and Bahrain and José Cubelos, Indra’s general manager in Bahrain along with a number of Bahraini ICT government officials.

It is worth mentioning that Indra office in Bahrain is located at one of the prominent business buildings in Manama Almoayyed Tower.

The office is staffed with over 40 employees comprising of IT professionals and experts from Spain and Bahrain who are currently working on the implementation of the National Health Information System (iSeha) which is considered to be the first integrated healthcare system in the region. iSeha includes system applications that cover all levels of health care services such as the unified Electronic Medical Record (EMR), ePrescription, primary medical health-care, inpatient and outpatient services, emergency case management, radiology and medical scan, Intensive Care Unit and laboratories diagnose utilities. Furthermore, the implementation framework includes establishing data processing centers, and providing change management support, healthcare solutions and other cutting-edge services to operate the national health system in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The first contract was signed with the Ministry of Health of the Bahraini Government for the central hospital, Salmniya Medical Complex, in addition to seven peripheral hospitals and the country’s 26 health centers throughout Bahrain. The second was signed with the flagship of the country’s health service modernization process, King Hamad University Hospital.

With the opening of its office in Bahrain, Indra has affirmed positioning in the Middle East, particularly the Spanish multinational has already won numerous contracts to implement major projects, including the implementation of hi-tech systems for the high-speed railway service that will link Mecca and Medina, within the framework of the tender awarded to the Spanish consortium.
