The Municipalities Affairs Minister directed the Central Governorate to set up five work teams to evaluate the damage caused by the fire in coordination with concerned parties.
The teams will start their work on Tuesday and shall complete their missions as soon as possible, meeting all affected traders.
“The Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry is preparing a detailed report, which will be submitted to the cabinet, on all shops that have been damaged by the blaze. The report will also include proposed mechanisms to develop the suq,” Dr. Al Ka’abi said, stressing that the ministry will embark on rebuilding the damaged part of the suq which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
He also added that the ministry will work out a mechanism to evaluate the damage in coordination with the traders, the Central Governorate Municipal Council and members of the Representatives Council.
He pointed out that the ministry is currently preparing an alternative location which is expected to be near the damaged suq. He affirmed that efforts will be coordinated with concerned parties to provide all needed services in the new location.
“The ministry will spare no effort to expedite implementation of HRH the Prime Minister’s directives to find appropriate alternatives for the traders until revamp work is completed,” Dr. Al Ka’abi asserted, lauding the Interior Ministry’s efforts to put out the blaze.
The suq traders expressed thanks and respect to HRH the Prime Minister for his valuable directives, lauding tremendous care accorded by the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to the issue.
