Al Faqih’s extreme ideology a major threat to regional security

October 13, 2012
0

Minister for Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa
Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa confirmed that for several months attempts have continued for communication between all political societies in order to create an understanding in the field of political action.

This comes despite the insistence of some political societies to remain uncooperative. These political societies take advantage of the reoccurring violence, as they do not condone nor ever clearly condemn that violence. They in turn have created many obstacles that get in the way of meeting with all national political forces.

Minister of Justice confirmed that the main source of threat to national security of the region’s countries is the extremist ideology embraced by Hezbollah, the Shirazists and the Sadrists and its followers, societies and clergy men. He also confirmed that this ideology with all its trends uses the principle of Welayat al Faqih that turned the traditional theocrats to a regional political authority. He added that the danger of this ideology stems from being based on full seclusion, lack of faith in citizenship and peaceful coexistence in communities. This ideology depends on deepening the concepts of sectarianism, non-recognition of components of society. This is to create of a political reality with sectarian dimensions copying existing regional models based on sectarian and confessional grounds.

He said that those promoting this ideology represent one project based on a standardized mechanisms and frameworks directed by politicized regional theocratic authorities. The project is implemented by those religious authorities and their arms of political societies and organizations which politically use the principle of Welayat-al Faqih to spread the revolution, and in turn provide all forms of support to disable the security and stability in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Gulf states.

He explained that the support, in many ways, includes connecting the religious authority in the Gulf States to the regional theocratic authority, insuring religious legitimacy for acts associated with extremism and terrorism. This leads to breading new generations who carry the spirit of hatred for the government and other communities and sects. This also links political opposition organizations to extremist political parties who adopt terrorism as a means. The support the opposition movement receives also includes moral, media and logistical support.

The Minister cautioned that these policies led to the weakening of convergence among sects. It also damaged attempts of national reconciliation based on a culture of exclusion and intolerance. This has led to deepening mistrust among religious sects as well as relationship with the components of the society. This comes as a result of the growing political role of the clergy, which have increased sectarian convictions and ideologies up to an extreme level and excessive violence.

Shaikh Khalid pointed out that some diplomatic missions are still communicating with the clerics and conveying to them the guidance of regional theocrats. He also said that these diplomatic missions provide them with plans to move on the domestic scene. It is unfortunate that some clergy respond to those directions without the slightest respect for the country which became their homeland and gave them citizenship and provided them with services and living. He revealed information about the meeting held recently between an Iranian diplomatic envoy and a clergy man. As the meeting ended, the clergyman immediately gave sermons on the divine satisfaction for acts of sabotage and promised surprises. Then, acts of terrorism, arson and vandalism increased forthwith. However, in last Friday sermon, this clergyman was desperate to deny that he had incited violence. He also denied that he had promoted sectarianism for over ten years. Finally, the clergyman couldn’t condone violence but somehow justified it in his sermon.

He added that the people of the Gulf with all their sects stood sincerely in the face of these extremist parties. They continue practicing their national role in building, developing and serving their communities without discrimination.

Shaikh Khalid stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are aware of the risks of that extremist ideology. They are determined to protect their societies against this ideology by the power of the law. The Gulf States will remain an oasis of safety and security and a generous home for all their peoples.
