As the global economy continues its steady recovery in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, relations between governments and the private sector are very crucial, according to the Acting CEO of the Bahrain Economic Development Board cum Transport Minister, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.

Minister Kamal, who is in Davos and leading Bahrain’s delegation to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, said such relations were important in order to ensure the creation of more job opportunities, long-term economic growth in order for everybody to reap the benefit and to help forums and conferences such as this forum – i.e. the World Economic Forum2013 – to enhance the necessary dialogue between companies and governments.

This year a high-level official delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain is attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the delegation also includes the CEO of Mumtalakat Holdings Company (BSC) Mahmoud Al-Kooheji.

The World Economic Forum kicked off on 23rd and will conclude on 27th January 2013 under the theme of: “Flexible Dynamism”.

The Minister of Transport said that it was of paramount importance for governments to provide optimum atmospheres in which private sector companies can thrive.

The Minister also said that policies in the Kingdom of Bahrain help create suitable atmospheres for companies to grow and flourish which is the basis of our national economic policy in terms of regulation, investing in education and training and investing in infrastructures thanks to our solid bilateral relations with the GCC states and the entire region.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to its open economic policies which have culminated in ranking among the top fifteen countries in terms of economic freedom and the first country in terms of economic freedom in the Middle East region, according to the Heritage Foundation Index of Free Economies published by the Wall Street Journal,” Minister Kamal said.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain occupies the same rank with the sisterly United Arab Emirates (UAE) according to the Fraser Institute’s annual report of economic freedom in the Arab World. The Kingdom of Bahrain has maintained its top ranking in this report since 2009.”

The Minister took part in the WEF’s session under the theme: (The Context of Events in the Arab World) to discuss most significant urgent issues help in forming frame for decision-makers in the Arab World and their impact on the national, regional and international arena.

The session included a number of VIPs from the region, including HRH Prince Turki Al-Faisal Al Saud and National Bank of Kuwait CEO Ibrahim Dabdoob.
