Al-Maawda outlined the duties and prerogatives of the Ombudsman Secretary-General Office.
He also pointed out the ongoing preparations to open the Ombudsman Secretary-General Office officially, to be the first of its kind on the Arabian Gulf region.
“The establishment of the Ombudsman Secretary-General Office reflects Bahrain’s commitment to enforce the values of justice, respect of human rights as well as keenness on benefiting from deeply-rooted international experiences, in line with the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) recommendations,” Al-Maawda, said.
The session discussed ways of promoting cooperation to promote human rights, and address citizens and residents’ complaints professionally.
Ombudsman Secretary-General Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda expressed the hope that the visit to Amnesty International and other watchdogs would contribute to building bridges of constructive cooperation and promoting direct contacts in total transparency.
