The 2013 SPE Middle East Unconventional Gas Conference and Exhibition (UGAS) will take place 28−30 January 2013 at the Al Bustan Palace in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. After three successful events in the Middle East, the fourth unconventional gas event will incorporate the theme ‘Unconventional and Tight Gas: Bridging the Gaps for Sustainable Economic Development’.

The opening ceremony on Monday, 28 January 2013 will include remarks by Zaid bin Khamis Al Siyabi, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Sultanate of Oman (UGAS Executive Committee Chairman), Darryl Willis, Vice President Resource, North American Gas, BP, and Egbert Imomoh, Non-Executive Chairman and Co-Founder, Afren (2013 SPE President).

“With more than 300 regional and international industry leaders and professionals with an interest in unconventional gas expected to attend this year’s event, UGAS will provide valuable networking opportunities, as well as a first-class learning experience from the technical programme which comprehensively covers the conference theme,” Zaid bin Khamis Al Siyabi, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Sultanate of Oman and UGAS Conference Chairman said.

The conference programme includes three panel sessions titled ‘Unconventional and Tight Gas: Bridging the Gaps for Sustainable Economic Development’, ‘Unlocking Potential: Emerging Technologies and Techniques’, and ‘Resource Challenges for Unconventional Gas Development in the Region’, with speakers from Baker Hughes, BP, Canadian Natural Resources, ConocoPhillips, Halliburton, Hess, Occidental Oil and Gas, Petroleum Development Oman, Saudi Aramco, Schlumberger, Shell, and Wintershall Middle East.
Thirteen technical sessions along with poster and eposter stations will offer 90 presentations from more than 35 companies and 18 countries that aim to tackle the challenges of exploring, drilling, and producing unconventional gas.
An exhibition hosting some of the industry’s most renowned regional and international companies will run alongside the conference. The latest technological equipment, solutions, and services to produce gas from unconventional resources will be on display.

2013 UGAS sponsors include BP (Titanium Sponsor), Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and Schlumberger (Platinum Sponsors), Petroleum Development Oman and Shell (Gold Sponsors), Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP), Thru Tubing, and Weatherford (Silver Sponsors), Canadian Natural Resources (Gala Dinner Sponsor), and Packers Plus (Delegate Bags Sponsor).
