The banking and financial sector is treading on the right path of growth and development and the 2013 will be a good year, a senior banker said.
“At BBK we have seen a record profit for 2012, and we expect this trend will continue this year,” A. Karim Bucheery, CE of BBK on the sidelines of $500,000 Al Hayrat presentation ceremony, told the 24X7 News.
Bucheery said that BBK would focus on cost efficiency of the bank by putting a lid on leakages and loopholes in the system. “Overall we are overwhelmed with the results as each segments of the bank performed well which impacted positively on a record profit in 2012,” he added.
Talking about the saving schemes, he said Al Hayrat has done exceedingly well and to make this scheme even attractive, BBK has rolled out a $1000,000 jackpot for 2013 in addition to the existing $500,000 as well as monthly and quarterly awards taking the total award to $2.5 million.
Al Hayrat, BBK’s unique savings account that presents exciting opportunities for its customers to win prizes while they save, has made the announcement everyone has been waiting for, the winner of the Grand Prize draw of 2012. The draw offered the single lump sum cash prize of $500,000 and was carried out on the 23rd of January 2013 under the supervision of Yasser Buallay Ministry of Commerce Representative and bank officials.
Shaikha Ali Saleh, a Bahraini med student, was announced as the lucky grand prize winner. She received the star treatment, commencing with being collected, along with her family, in a stretch Hummer limousine and was presented with the cheque for $500,000 by A. Karim Bucheery, CE of BBK in the Main Branch on 5th of February during a special handover ceremony. The reception was attended by GM Shaikh Rashed Al Khalifa and Reyadh Sater, alongside senior management from the Bank.
The grand prize is a of a year’s worth of prizes totalling $1,500,000. All investments made by 20th December 2012 were eligible for the draw. The greater the amount invested, the greater are the chances of winning.
Upon receiving the news of her win, Shaikha was in awe and disbelief and wondered if the Bank was absolutely sure she was indeed the winner. Shaikha, a Muharraq resident, is a fifth year medical student who was in the middle of doing rounds when she received the call to inform her of her amazing win.
“This is unbelievable! I thank God for this blessing, and I would like to extend my appreciation to BBK for this incredible news! I haven’t decided what to do with the money yet, but it will surely go into securing my future,” she said.
Shaikha’s parents, Ali Saleh, and Salwa Al Mahmeed, were quite ecstatic as they were the ones who deposited a small amount into Al Hayrat in their only daughter’s name as a minor, over nine years ago when Shaikha was just 13 years old, in hope of winning one day and securing her future.
Salwa Al Mahmeed, the winner’s mother, expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to the BBK Management and staff under A.
