The event took place at the Alba Club on Monday, March 4, 2013.
Alba’s Chief Executive, Tim Murray and the Alba Labour Union Chairman, Ali bin Ali were at the closing ceremony along with other senior officials from the company, members of the Alba Labour Union and employees.
The HSE Zero Accidents Week was organised to boost greater awareness of health, safety and environment related issues amongst employees and contract staff; provide opportunity for employees and management to learn how to uphold safety goals; and ensure safety remains a priority at all times.
The week-long HSE Zero Accidents Week included lectures on how to work safely; presentations on safe behaviour, anti-smoking, road safety, oral and dental care; evacuation drill; competitions and a film session to highlight how safety is critical to Alba’s operations.
A tent was set up where safety equipment was displayed, medical personnel checked blood sugar level and blood pressure, and a daily tent quiz competition was held.
“We were quite thrilled to see the response amongst employees towards the various activities that were held as part of the HSE Zero Accidents Week. We are now actively considering making this event twice a year so that safety awareness gains greater momentum and continues to remain a priority,” commenting on the conclusion of the HSE Zero Accidents Week, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray said.

During the HSE Zero Accidents Week, prominence was given to the three principles, namely, ownership of safety is everyone’s responsibility; working safely is a condition of employment; and all work related injuries and illnesses are preventable.
