The bilateral talks from Bahraini side were led Dr. Hassan Fakhro Minister of Industry and Commerce who along with a high-level business delegation is currently visiting Thailand including the members of the Bahrain-Thailand Business Council, upon the invitation extended by the Minister of Commerce in Thailand.
In lne with the directives of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister, the Bahraini delegation also held important talks with Thailand.
During his stay in the capital Bangkok, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro held talks with the Minister of Agriculture Yukol Limlamthong, where he confirmed during the meeting to put food security topic on top priority, noting that Bahrain cooperate with many countries of the world including Thailand as it characterized by vast agricultural land and high quality products and striking respond by Thai leadership and the commercial sector with the Bahraini side. The Minister noted in this regard to the great efforts made by Bahraini leadership and government in order to raise the rate of cooperation and economic exchange with Thailand. He also pointed out to the visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa last April and ongoing visit of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and the Visit of Thai Prime Minister to Bahrain last year and the successive visits of economic events and businessmen from both countries.
In this regard, they discussed a number of common topics and issues such as “Bahrain-Thai Trade distribution Company” which will take the kingdom as a regional center. The meeting also touched the possibilities of cooperation in food security areas particularly imports of Jasmine rice which witness an increase demand in Bahrain as well as sugar, poultry, hatching eggs and Halal meat.
In addition to that, they touched the importance of activating joint agreements between the private sectors, and increase the size to benefit from both sides experiences, stressing in this regard in the importance of such meetings in developing and enhancing the relations.
Thailand’s Minister of Agriculture impressed with the advanced steps taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain in upgrading the economic sector and attracts huge capitals and investment to enhance its economic and financial position, looking forward to enhance more cooperation and joint action with Bahrain in all fields.
The meeting was attended by chairman of BCCI Dr. Essam Fakhro and board director and a number of businessmen and Charge d’Affaires of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Thailand Khalil Al Kayat.
