Canadian Foreign Minister Baird, who was in Manama as part of his regional tour, said that he held talks with Bahrain’s top leadership and discussed with them variety of topics and areas of mutual interest as well possibility of exploring the further avenues of co-operation in political, economic and trade sectors.
At end of his official visit to Bahrain, the Canadian top diplomat during a joint Press conference with his Bahraini counterpart Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that Israel and Palestinian independent states would lead to a prosperous future of both countries.
Citing to the visit of the US Secretary of State to the region, the Canadian Foreign Minister said that the region once again has witnessed diplomatic flurry focussing on Palestine-Israel issue.
Addressing a Press conference at premises of Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs replying to a question of The 24X7 News said that diplomatic efforts would continue to be focal point for Palestine-Israel conflict.
“The negotiated solution for this conflict by ensuring the security of both countries living side by side can be achieved through a renewed peace process backed by US President and the energy and enthusiasm shown by the US Secretary of State are positive signs,” the Canadian Foreign Minister asserted.
Bahrain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa said that Palestine-Israel issue has had enormous importance for the entire region and needed renewed efforts to reach a negotiated peace deal.
“This is very important issue and has been in back burner due to some other emerging conflicts in the region. However the visit of the US President to the region is seen as a new door of opportunity. Also the US Secretary of State’s visit to the region will give a new impetus to the stalled peace process between the two sides,” Shaikh Khalid, added.
