Ford Taurus registers 12 per cent growth in Q1 in Bahrain

April 23, 2013
0

2013 Ford Taurus SHOTaurus, Ford’s flagship sedan, with posted an over 88% per cent increase in regional sales, also witnessed 12% increase in Bahraini market, thanks to the growing popularity of the full-size sedan among customers in the Kingdom.

The 2013 Ford Taurus builds on strong safety and technology foundations and offers a class-leading array of unique and unsurpassed technologies such as active park assist, adding to more convenience for customers.

“Since Ford Taurus debuted in the region, it has consistently become a favourite among Ford customers with its array of safety, infotainment and fuel-saving technologies which even more expensive sedans cannot match,” Thierry Sabbagh, Ford Middle East’s director of Sales, said.
“This encouraging performance in Bahrain proves that customers welcome the Ford Taurus and appreciate the unique features and driving dynamics that this model offers them, and that our commitment to deliver quality, smart, safe and fuel-efficient vehicles is well-appreciated.

“Ford Taurus is not just big in size but leverages technology to deliver best-in-class quality and performance, elevates driving dynamics and maintains its safety legacy,” Sabbagh continued. “It has definitely raised the technology bar and our customers love it. Adding unique features like MyFord Touch powered by SYNC, active park assist and EcoBoost engine availabilities keeps Taurus a rolling showcase of technology leadership. With award-winning Ford Taurus and Ford Taurus SHO available, our customers only have the best choices that suits well their lifestyles.”

Ford Taurus received accolades from critics and consumers alike. The full-size sedan recently topped the Large Car category in JD Power and Associates’ 2012 Initial Quality Study and received the highest overall vehicle score (5-star) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 3.5-liter V6 is offered as standard equipment in Taurus SE, SEL and Limited series models.

In the Ford Taurus, this engine benefits from the addition of twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), achieving better fuel economy, more horsepower and a reduction in part-throttle emissions compared to the previous standard Taurus V6. This engine delivers an expected increase of 170 L/km highway, with 10 percent more horsepower than the current model.
The engine has been engineered for durability with chain-driven camshafts, high-strength forged metal connecting rods with floating pins, a fully counterweighted forged steel crankshaft, die-cast aluminum deep-sump oil pan and four-bolt main bearing caps with side bolts through the engine block.

Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics are controlled and reduced through employment of a tuned composite upper and lower manifold, and a silent-chain camshaft drive.

The Taurus engine is mated to the 6F50 six-speed transmission that adds fuel economy and performance, while allowing for lower gearing to be optimized for improved off-the-line acceleration, yet enabling higher gears to help provide economical cruising by keeping engine rpm levels low.

The Ford Taurus SHO is the sportiest model yet to wear SHO badge, offering unique, performance-inspired design, road manners to match – and even more differentiation within the Taurus lineup.
