Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, who opened in Manama the Conference of the Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World, said achieving security, peace and stability would continue to be major challenges for Arab and African regions.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain gives this aspect a great interest, and seeks in cooperation with brotherly and friendly States to achieve security, stability and peace in the region, particularly under the continuing threats which aim at undermining security and stability and demolishing national gains that have been achieved in the Gulf States, emphasizing the development of appropriate strategies to address those challenges, thanks to God and the wise leaderships who have shown ability in facing those threats,” he added.
He conveyed the greetings and wishes of success of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
He paid tribute to the final statement of the sixth Conference held in the Kingdom of Morocco last year which lauded HM the King’s wise initiative to establish the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) in the events witnessed in the Kingdom of Bahrain recently.
Burundi Senate President Gabriel Ntisezerana, Chairman the current Conference, said it is a good opportunity, through holding the Conference in Bahrain, to meet with members and listen to their views and aspirations, particularly in the field of coordination between Arab and African countries, supporting development and finding solutions to conflicts and crises that are considered among the most important goals of the Association.
Chairman Ntisezerana and the participating delegations praised the preparation efforts exerted by Bahraini Shura Council to hold the current Conference of the Association, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain success for chairing the next conference of the Association.
19 Arab and African countries in addition to a number of prominent Arabian and African figures and Arab chairpersons of parliament organizations take part in the eighth meeting of the Association being held in Bahrain from 28 to 29 May 2013.
