May 23, 2013

p20027ASRY is planning to invest tens of millions in expansion projects and may add another floating dock as part of its five-year business strategy, a top executive at ASRY revealed.

“ASRY like other companies is facing a fierce completion with the opening up of two major facilities in Qatar and Oman and on the top of its the business is coming back to normal after the economic upheaval of 2009,” Chris Potter, the Chief Executive of Asry told a Press conference on Wednesday.
Potter, however, was unable to give the exact size of investments but was sure that the company has plans to invest in improving its existing infrastructure.
The CEO also hinted at receiving between 220-to-240 vessels for repair towards the end of the year by and said the first five months of the year were considered good in terms of business.
Talking about business climate he said there have been good times and challenging ones and ASRY would continue to tread on the path of progress and development.

“ASRY is competing with global players such as China and Singapore and ASRY is one of the most respected names in the global market, thanks to the leadership’s vision particularly to the full support of Chairman HE Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al-Khalifa,” he added.

Chris, who was joined by Arran Dall ASRY’s Corporate Communications Manager, also revealed that ASRY would soon open its branch office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. “This new office will give ASRY an opening to Saudi Arabia’s huge industrial, petrochemical and marine sectors,” he said.
Arran Dall said that first two months revenues were $35.8 million, up from $24.5 million for the first two months of 2012.

ASRY is the Arabian Gulf’s most experienced ship and rig repair yard. Founded in 1977 in Bahrain, ASRY has over 35 years of experience in marine asset optimisation. Its leading range of facilities includes a 500,000dwt drydock, two floating docks of 252m and 227m in length, 15 repair berths with a total length of approximately 4,000m, twin 255m slipways, as well as a full range of workshops and service centres. The yard’s portfolio of capabilities is not only the largest in the Arabian Gulf, but also includes jack-up rigs and other offshore assets, due to a dedicated division – ASRY Offshore Services. Combined with a series of other diversifications including an Energy Division dedicated to the production of unique power generation barges, and a Consultancy Division for marine engineering packages, ASRY is a multi-functional marine services hub committed to providing international standards to global ship-owners operating in the Arabian Gulf.
