This came during a meeting, which chaired by Industry and Commerce Minister with a number of food traders in his office yesterday morning, where stressed government and Ministry keenness to follow up and discuss the most importance development of local market. He praised at the same time the important role played by investors and food traders and hypermarkets owners in Bahrain in providing food goods in the local market at the best prices for consumers.
They also reviewed during the meeting traders’ efforts in providing essential commodities such as meat, poultry, flour, rice, vegetables, oil and to stand on the size of stockpile for the next period which varies between one to 8 months, stressing in this aspects there is sufficient stock of various major food commodities.
On the other hand the Ministry stressed on the importance of consumers’ cooperation in all regions by reporting any trade violations by calling the hotlines of the Consumer Protection Department on 17530096 or 39531888. The Minister also stressed on the importance of balanced buying and to not store unrequired quantities of foodstuffs because it is wrong consumer practices and it is harmful to the market and to the consumers’ budget.
