Bahraini retail and commercial banking institution, BMI Bank awarded certificates to 32 young Bahraini students who successfully completed their two month intensive summer internship program at the Bank.
The General Manager Support Services, Eyad Sater, handed over the certificates to the 23 females and 9 male interns at a ceremony held at the Bank’s corporate offices at the Bahrain World Trade Center. The students, who are currently completing their respective majors across universities both within Bahrain and abroad, began their internship in July and as part of their training were introduced to various facets of banking systems and procedures and received essential briefings within the Bank’s key departments. They were mentored in different activities relating to retail, wholesale and private banking, treasury, risk, legal, operations and corporate communications amongst others.
“We are pleased to have once again hosted and mentored young girls and boys for two whole months at BMI Bank. We have fine-tuned and honed our internship program based on the feedback we received from our previous interns to ensure that the level of knowledge and experience imparted is of the highest caliber. An internship is an opportunity to learn first-hand the intricate workings within a professional and well recognized organization and to be evaluated honestly by peers at the end of the period. Today, work experience is an essential part of preparing for the job market,” Handing over the certificates, Eyad Sater, General Manager Support Services said.

Hanin Alawadhi, a student at Bahrain Polytechnic completed her internship with the Corporate Communications Department. Responsible for liaising with the Bank’s advertising & PR agencies on different jobs, she said that no two days were similar and considers herself lucky to have been a part of organizing the Bank’s Ayadi Saving scheme special Ramadan and Grand prize winners’ event.
Basma Naseeb from the University of Manchester, said, “Working with the Bank’s legal department was a really wonderful experience. Being exposed to the daily workings and different aspects of the department has opened my mind and helped me grow as a person”.
Raja Salman Zaber, a student at BAB, who interned with the Finance department, thanked her mentor for exposing her to the various functions of finance. She added, “I met many people who have been working in this field for many years, and was able to learn from them, which will certainly benefit me in the future when I start looking for a job”.
