Following the tragic death of a schoolchild who was forgotten in the school bus of Rawabi private school, Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi ordered a legal and educational probe panel to be set up as soon as the Education Ministry was informed about the incident on Thursday.
The committee convened on the same day of the incident and summoned the school owner and director of the four stages, the kindergarten official, the Public Relations official and the classroom teacher. The bus driver and the bus supervisor were not summoned as they had been arrested and were interrogated by the relevant authorities.
The investigation continued at the Education Ministry’s Court in Isa Town for many hours till late at night on Thursday evening.
Investigations focused on shortcomings which led to the sad incident and the school’s non-compliance with the set up procedures by not reporting the incident to the ministry.
The interrogated officials admitted negligence and shortcomings by not strictly adhering to the rules which requires full safety to the children.
The ministry demanded the school to notify it next Sunday (September 22) about the legal and administrative procedures taken to avert recurrence of this negligence in the future so that the Education Ministry can take appropriate measures according to the law and set up regulations and in preparation for sending the result of the investigation to the Public Prosecution.
