Chief Prosecutor of the Northern Governorate Hussain Al Buali said that the investigation into the death of a child in a school bus has been completed.
He noted that a number of officials in the school, the school cleaner who was assigned the task of accompanying students in the bus, the bus driver and owner have been accused of negligence since the forensic report revealed that the child had died because of exposure to high temperature and poor aeration inside the bus.
He added that the Public Prosecution had deployed a team of Forensic experts to inspect the bus and the crime scene, noting that they had found out that the boy was left in the closed bus for three hours and a half in which the temperature ranged between 49.4 C 53.1C for two hours, resulting in a thermal shock that caused the vital parts of the brain to stop and affected the heart and respiratory system badly, and led to his death.
He also said that investigations revealed that neither the bus had been authorised by the General Directorate of Traffic to transport students, nor the driver’s license allowed him to do so.
He added that, based on confessions, material evidence and technical reports, the Public Prosecution decided to refer seven suspects (the bus supervisor, driver and owner, two principals, transportation official at the school, child’s teacher) for their negligence that led to the death of the boy.
