Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)’s on-going drive towards embedding a safety culture across the organisation was given a further boost with a Loss Prevention Seminar conducted recently at the Alba Club by FM Global, an acknowledged world leader amongst mutual insurance companies specialising in loss prevention services.
The main content of the seminar was customised to Alba’s requirements with its objectives clearly outlined to ensure that all fire protection and prevention systems remain in line with FM Global standards and that these measures pave the way towards strengthening loss prevention initiatives in Alba.
Other items covered during the seminar included hydraulic design factors, calculations, videos of case studies from FM Global’s research centre along with a variety of interactive sessions to strengthen employee engagement.
FM Global also rewarded the Casthouse, Carbon 1 & 2 and Power departments for their efforts in completing many risk recommendations suggested by FM Global. These areas were particularly singled out due to the many recommendations that were successfully carried out from November 2009.
“The training conducted by FM Global is one of the many ways that Alba is taking steps towards achieving a zero accident work environment and give a boost to the safety culture across all levels of the organisation. The steps suggested during the training course are expected to help reduce the likelihood of any significant property loss, ensure that the company is able to meet its targets and provide uninterrupted supply of products and services to customers,” Alba’s Director for Power & Utilities, Amin Sultan said.
In 2009, Alba had received the FM Global Award for meeting high standards in protection from risks. At the time of the award, it was stated that it was the second time in 15 years that the award was presented to an insured industry.”
