The Kingdom of Bahrain’s tourism sector is set to add $6 billion to GDP a year, thanks to the strong fundamentals put in place by the Government, an official at Bahrain tour and travel agents (ABTTA) said.

The president of ABTTA Sofyan Al Moayye said that ABTTA was working to drive the travel and tourism industry to make it one of the strong pillars the economy.

“Experts expect that the tourism sector contributions to Bahrain’s GDP will grow to $6 billion in 2021,” he added.

The announcement was made on the launch of “Tourist” magazine yesterday. “Tourist” magazine is published by ABTTA in cooperation with Daily Public Relations in conjunction with the celebrations of World Tourism Day.

“This data prompted us, and in partnership with the media and public relations experts “Daily Public Relations” to accelerate publishing “Tourist” magazine to contribute to the revitalization of this vital sector”.

“We mark the celebrations of World Tourism day with the signing of this partnership. The magazine will be issued as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s celebrations for Manama being the Capital of Arab Tourism.

“The brand new “Tourist” magazine will serve to bridge a huge gap in the tourism sector by specializing in local and regional tourism,” CEO at Daily Public Relations, Mahmood Al Nasheet said.

“We believe that we will add great value to the tourism, travel and entertainment sectors with our new private “Tourist” publication, as the industry currently lacks the presence of a bulletin or a magazine that covers specialized information disseminating all of the activities in the tourism sector,” he said.

“The Tourist will fill the gap in this vital sector that’s growing in size and diversity. The magazine also aims at adding value to the tourism sector through effective marketing, emphasizing its huge contribution to the national economy, and to help improve the perception of tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which has been previously tainted with some negativity due to some harmful activities conducted by a few in this sector,” he added.

“In Daily Public Relations, we hope to achieve these goals in partnership with the Association of Bahrain Tour and Travel Agents (ABTTA) through this magazine,” he said, adding that the signing ceremony of “Tourist” magazine was coincided with the celebrations of World tourism Day, on September 27.
