The Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Sunday said that it has already implemented the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
The statement added that the process of reconciliation was in place to address the deprived, if any, individuals or groups within the society.
The Government stressed that it would follow up and continue to build on what has been achieved and would continue the march of reform and development towards more progress and prosperity.
Bahrain established a national independent commission that reviewed the laws and procedures and recommending some amendments, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain established a mechanism to determine the accountability of those in government who have committed unlawful and negligent acts, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain placed the Inspector General office independent of hierarchical control and founded an Ombudsman, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain amended the decree establishing the National Security Agency (NSA) to be the only Agency in charge of the collection of intelligence information. It also created the post of the Independent Inspector General, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain adopted legislative measures which grant the Attorney General the power to investigate claims of torture and ill-treatment, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain finished reviewing all convictions issued by the National Safety Courts, in line with the BICI recommendations.
In line with the BICI recommendations, Bahrain established a special investigation unit. This unit continues to effectively work in accordance with the principles of effective deterrence and investigation. This unit has referred many cases to law.
Bahrain established an independent authority to investigate complaints of torture, ill-treatment, or excessive use of force, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain carried out an extensive program of training on the rules of public order for security forces, the National Security Agency (NSDA) and Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain took regulatory measures regarding detention and arrests, the arrestees and detainees’, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain established a programme for the integration of security forces personnel from all sects, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain, in accordance with BICI, trained judiciary and prosecutorial personnel on preventing and eradicating torture and ill-treatment.
In accordance with the BICI recommendations, Bahrain installed audiovisual recording equipment so that all official interviews with detainees would be recorded.
Bahrain reviewed all convictions and commuted or cancelled sentences in offence charges related to the freedom of political expression, in line with the BICI recommendations.
With regard of commuting death sentences and as there are no sentences of the kind issued, Bahrain has fulfilled this BICI recommendation.
Bahrain compensated and provided remedies for families of deceased victims under the Reparation of Victims Fund, in line with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain established a Civil Settlements Office for death and injury cases that works to fulfil the BICI recommendation regarding receiving complaints and compensating victims.
Bahrain, in line with the BICI recommendations, had assured that the remaining dismissed were not because of freedom of expression and assembly.
Bahrain, in line with the BICI recommendations, had ensured that private corporations did not dismiss those who fail to appear for work during the events.
Bahrain reinstated all students who have not been criminally charged and adopted clear disciplinary standard, in accordance with the BICI recommendations.
Bahrain, in line with the BICI recommendations, is correcting the status of illegal demolished religious structures. Construction works to end in 2014.
