eGA supports Khalid bin Hamad Arabian Horse Racing Cup Festival

March 9, 2014
0

MANAMA: The eGovernment Authority (eGA) participated at the 3rd Khalid bin Hamad Arabian Horse Racing Cup Festival for people with disabilities 2014. The event took place at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club race course and was attended by high-ranking equestrian officials from the Arab world.

eGovernment Authority vice CEO Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Al-Khajah, on behalf of the CEO, expressed his pride of the authority’s participation in this humanitarian festival. During his presence at the eGA’s pavilion, Dr. Zakareya reaffirmed that His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad’s initiative shows his keenness in providing all means of support to this society segment with special needs; so in return, they can contribute in building the nation.

Dr. Al-Khajah further stated that the participation in supporting people with special needs is a national duty and that the eGovernment Authority collaborated with the relevant stakeholders to enhance the delivery of services for them, so as to ensure that these people with disabilities can capably manage to blend into the community.

The authority offers a package of services for users with special needs such as the video calling service at the National Contact Center (8000 8001), one of eGA’s service delivery channels; along with developing a wide range of services, for people with special needs, in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development.

eGovernment Authority featured at the pavilion the services offered for people with disabilities such as applying for ID cards issued specifically for disabled people; it also featured a full spectrum of rehabilitation services for disabled children such as permanent or transitional (intermittent) residential care, day care (rehabilitative classes) and physiotherapy. Such services are launched with the intention of delivering services to this segment without being required to personally visit a relevant entity to apply or check a desired public service.

The pavilion also showcased, in details, the national center’s video call service designed for the benefit of the deaf and supported by a team of specialized staff qualified in sign language. Communication can be applied via Skype, available for downloading on computers, smartphones and digital tablets.

Visitors were also given the opportunity to view, register and learn about the usage of the eKey system which enables eGA service users to login into a single authentication profile in order to access the governmental services and carry-out transactions in a securely, safer manner.

The authority’s services are featured at large at the advanced search engine (www.bahrain.bh/search) – provided with tools to enable users to obtain the required search results of the wide range of available services.
