MANAMA: With Bahrain is keen on securing food security, Russia shows willingness to supply Bahrain with high quality and competitive prices products such rice, sugar, flour, as well as meal dairy and oils.
Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro who met with special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Cooperation with Gas Exporting Countries Forum affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to solidify the existing ties.
Dr. Hassan Fakhro confirmed government keenness to develop its economic relations with all countries of the world and take advantages of the scientific and technical experiences and natural capabilities of friendly countries to achieve the desired economic growth of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He praised the importance of mutual visit between the two countries which crowned in the historic visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Russia in 2008 and resulted in several agreements and understandings in many areas of cooperation and joint action between the two countries.
This came during a meeting with Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Cooperation with Gas Exporting Countries Forum, Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors Victor Zubkov, Deputy Director of the Secretariat of the Gazprom Board of Directors, Assistant of the Chairman Alexander Mazilov Assistant of the Chairman in presence of Russian Ambassador to the Kingdom Victor Smirnov and a number of Russian delegation that represent major Russian companies specialized in the field of agriculture, industry and services. The meeting also was attended by BCCI Chairman Khalid Al Moayyed and a number of businessmen, investors in various fields and Ministry’s officials.
The Minister stressed government welcome to all Russian investment, noting to the great efforts made by the government and the Ministry to establish various economic projects and adopt legislations and laws that protect these investment, noting to the great role played by the Bahraini private sector and investors in order to In order to develop partnership and investment with all countries of the world.
The minister touched food security sector, which Bahrain seeks all its efforts to achieve cooperation with the private sector and investors. They also discussed activating Bahraini-Russian Cooperation in the field of Islamic Banking, agriculture and construction and to take advantage of the incentives provided by the two countries to enhance investment and economic collaboration and to benefit from Bahrain’s geographical position as center for their businesses in the region.
Dr. Fakhro, praised efforts made by the Russian Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its ongoing cooperation with the government and the ministry in order to enhance bilateral relations which reflect positively on the national economy in both.
Victor Zubkov expressed his government appreciation to the government of Bahrain on all efforts undertaken to support economic cooperation between the two countries. He referred in this regard to Russian government directions to develop its relations with Bahrain and the quest establish of an exhibition of Russian products in the Kingdom of Bahrain next November.
