MANAMA: The Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, will patronise the 14th edition of the annual International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) schedule to take place from 3rd to 5th June at Gulf Hotel Bahrain.
Around 700 leaders from the global regulatory community, industry bodies, governmental officials and the private sector will convene at the event, which is being held under the headline theme of ‘Maximising the Potential of the Digital World’. GSR14 has been organised by the International Telecom Union.
The State Minister for Communications, Shaikh Fawaz hailed His Royal Highness the Premier for extending his patronage and showing his support and encouragement for this key United Nations Conference.
“This annual gathering is a global event of great renown and influence, so it gives me great pleasure to have the support of His Royal Highness the Premier as we welcome the world to our shores. Bahrain has a state-of-the-art telecommunications and ICT infrastructure and also the facilities to host events such as GSR14 with ease. In combination, this affords us the opportunity to attract the world’s most influential TRAs to Bahrain. We can learn from them, and hopefully they can learn from us.
It speaks volumes for the overall quality of our telecommunications industry that we are able to attract GSR14 to Bahrain. The speed and reliability of telecommunications and data is pivotal in shaping business on a worldwide scale, so to stay at the cutting edge is of vital importance. This symposium will help us do that, and also help other TRAs make positive progress as well,” Shaikh Fawaz in a statement said.
