MANAMA: Chief Prosecutor and Acting Chairman of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Mohammed Khalid Al-Hazza confirmed that the SIU had launched investigation into the death of a teenager during the rioting and clashes with the police that had happened in Sitra on May 21, 2014, as soon as it was informed about the incident.
He said the SIU team went to the morgue and appointed a forensic expert to determine the causes of the death.
The SIU also requested copies of the results of the investigations carried out by the judicial police on the circumstances of the incident and quizzed the officer in charge of the police patrol which had dealt with the rioting.
He affirmed that investigations into the incident would continue, calling on anyone with information about it to contact the SIU.
