MANAMA: The unemployment in the Kingdom of Bahrain indicated a slight decrease in unemployment rate compared to last year.
The Official Government Spokesperson and State Minister for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab told reporters during weekly post Cabinet meeting briefing that the estimated unemployment rate was 4% in the first quarter of 2014, after it was almost 4.5% in the fourth quarter of last year.
According to the report, 6125 citizens were employed in the first quarter of 2014, of which 34.5% were females.
The Cabinet reviewed the memorandum presented by the Minister of Labour on the report concerning those entitled to subsidy and unemployment compensation, as well as employment data, training and job vacancies during the first quarter of 2014.
