MANAMA: The High Criminal Court sentenced to life four defendants who had deliberately and with premeditation killed an Asian garbage collector in Manama.
The four convicts had operated in a group to carry out terrorist acts targeting security men’s lives, endangering citizens and residents’ lives and destabilizing national security and economy.
The incident dates back to 5 Nov 2012 when the four convicts implanted a homemade bomb in a garbage container in the vicinity of Awal Cinema in the intention to kill pedestrians.
The Asian garbage collector happened to pass by the location at the time of the explosion. He died of his wounds from the blast, according to the coroner’s report.
The Public Prosecution charged the convicts with the formation of a terrorist group aimed to serve criminal purposes, attempted a premeditated murder to kill the victim and pedestrians, detonating a bomb for terrorist purposes, the use of explosives and endangering people’s lives, possession of explosives for terrorist purposes.
