MANAMA: Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro chaired the 20th main Joint Economic Committee between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry in presence of BCCI Chairman Khalid Al Moayyed and members from both sides.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister expressed government’s interest to follow up all economic projects including in providing decent life for citizens and achieving food security through local or private sector projects.
He expressed in this regard, government appreciation for all initiatives undertaken by the private sector and government participation in all economic and development issues in the country.
Both sides reviewed a paper concerning establishing national joint-stock company in livestock field in implantation of the recommendations of parliamentary committee, this encourage the private sector to find alternative sources for food production and diversify livestock import.
The meeting also reviewed the latest developments of Export Development Center project; where the Ministry in collaboration with other stakeholders prepares to launch Bahrain Export Development Center in the Ministry premises in Seef District and starts its initial. Then the committee discussed the development of Bahrain Exhibition and Conference City, which the ministry continues to implement it at the earliest. They also discussed the latest development of small and medium enterprises (SME toolkit), as well as the development of the project of the new economic city.
The Minister confirmed on the importance role of joint business councils in the chambers to support and enhance trade and economic and investment relations between Bahrain other countries and raise the levels of trade and investment exchange.
The meeting also touched the subject of re-electronic link between the Ministry and Chamber to activate article (6) of the Decree Law No. 48 of 2012, as well as developments in application system of temporary admission of goods (ATA Carnet). They also discussed the latest development of trucks flow across King Fahad Causeway, in addition to the subject of setting up a storage company to support food security in Bahrain.
Dr. Hassan Fakhro appreciates the role played by BCCI because it consider as umbrella of the private sector and its role as investment front in the Kingdom. BCCI Chairman also praised Ministry efforts in reviving Kingdom economy.
