BIC, Al Sakhir: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology inaugurated Bahrain IT Expo 2015 at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) as part of the third day activities of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015.

His Highness visited the numerous halls, workshop venues and the stands of countries participating for the first time such as Hungary, India and the USA. He also visited the participants representing the public and private sectors.

His Highness also launched (Recommended Universities) eservice initiated by the Ministry of Education. The service allows users to search for universities and programs recommended by the Ministry. His Highness also praised the ministry’s collaboration with the eGovernment Authority (eGA) in Qudurat Training Program announced during the forum. The program provides public schools with Microsoft curricula and instructors to train them on how to benefit from eGovernment services and basic computing.

Furthermore, His Highness launched the GDT and EWA Service dashboards which represent a unified interface concept for all the services provided by the General Directorate of Traffic and the Electricity and Water Authority. The concept is an innovative way of providing users with an easy and convenient way to access all the services through one outlet with added benefits through the eKey service which is set to be a leading project in the region, allowing government clients to have a master electronic identity to complete their transactions securely and easily.

His Highness also previewed the Robotics section assembled by students of mobile technology and artificial intelligence. The section will also showcase the best entries from the VEX Robotics Competition; entrants of the competition include Primary, Intermediate and Secondary students.

Moreover, His Highness visited the newly-added section in the Expo this year which is a dedicated section for electronic ideas and projects proposed by individuals. These projects have turned into actual technological products and are currently serving new organizations and initiatives. Electronic toys compatible with Smart Cities were also displayed.

Upon inaugurating the Expo, His Highness announced the three winners of ‘Technopreneur’ – the training program for ICT entrepreneurs. It is an initiative launched by the eGA in partnership with Bahrain Development Bank to find an efficient way to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in ICT among the Bahraini Youth.

It has become a meeting point for ICT experts, enthusiasts as it attracts international companies to display their latest ICT releases from products and solutions. It also attracts visitors who wish to grasp the latest in innovative services and technologies.
