Naturalised Bahrainis can apply for dual nationality

MANAMA: In line with the new laws, the naturalized Bahrainis can apply for applying for a permission to keep a dual nationality.
The initiatives by the Ministry of Interior are in line with the implementation of the relevant laws enabling the applicants to apply online on the GDNPR website, says Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al-Khalifa Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs.
“The step is in line with the laws on dual nationality and all applications will be sent to HE Minister of Interior office who will decide the suitability of each applicant,” Shaikh Ahmed on the sidelines of a Press conference said.
“At present the applications for dual nationalities can be had in Arabic only while in near future same in English language will be made available. Given the relevance of the dual nationality subject, English language applications will be helpful for the naturalized Bahrainis.”
The naturalization process and now allowing dual nationality to naturalized citizens is a very important step which speaks volumes of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s openness and commitment to serving the all segments of the society.
“The final say in this entire process is with HE Minister of Interior’s office,” Shaikh Ahmed added.
The Press conference was held at the Police Officers Club in Gudaiybia and addressed by senior Ministry of Interior officials.
